( 4UMF NEWS ) Teen Commits Suicide After Admitting Murder:
A possible love triangle ended in a tragic murder-suicide Sunday, when a teen shot himself outside a police station after confessing to killing an Army veteran.
The 17-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released, believed his girlfriend was having an affair with a 25-year-old vet. The suspect invited both of them over to a friend’s house, witness Darian Mitchell told ABC 13.
There, the alleged gunman opened fire and shot the presumed paramour.
“When he shot him, his girlfriend started screaming and then he ran,” Mitchell told the station. “And then he shot again, and then everyone started coming out and screaming.”
The victim, James Ayala, had served in the Army and was a father of five children, his family told reporters.
After the fatal shooting, the teen ran home, where he confessed the crime to his mother. After an argument, she drove him to a Harris County Sheriff’s substation to turn himself, according to reports.
The teen confessed to a deputy outside of the Clay station, and then pointed the gun at his own head, according to KHOU.
The deputy ordered the gunman to drop his weapon, but instead, the teen shot himself in the head as his mother watched. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, and later died.
The officer will be placed on administrative leave as the incident is being investigated, the Houston Chronicle reported.
