( 4UMF NEWS ) Brandon Marshall Loses Endorsement Deal After Kneeling:
Denver’s Brandon Marshall took a knee, and now a company he endorsed is giving him the boot.
After the Broncos linebacker kneeled Thursday night during the national anthem in solidarity with his college teammate Colin Kaepernick, Air Academy Federal Credit Union president and CEO Glenn Strebe announced his company was ending its endorsement deal with Marshall.
“Although we have enjoyed Brandon Marshall as our spokesperson over the past five months, Air Academy Federal Credit Union (AAFCU) has ended our partnership,” Strebe said in a statement Friday on the company’s Facebook page. “AAFCU is a membership-based organization who has proudly served the military community for over 60 years. While we respect Brandon’s right of expression, his actions are not a representation of our organization and membership. We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors.”
Marshall posted on Instagram after Thursday’s game to communicate why he was kneeling. Text on a photo of him kneeling reads “I’m not against the military, I’m not against the police or America. I’m against social injustice.”
Seahawks players are reportedly considering a team-wide show of unity against racial injustice on Sunday during the national anthem. Seattle corner Jeremy Lane sat during the anthem before the team’s preseason finale.
