Colin Kaepernick Greeted With Anti-QB Shirts

( 4UMF NEWS ) Colin Kaepernick Greeted With Anti-QB Shirts:

The game-time temperature outside Buffalo’s New Era Field was a pleasant 72 degrees Sunday before the Bills kicked off against the 49ers.

But the welcome offered to San Francisco starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the parking lot wasn’t nearly as warm.

Many Bills fans came to the tailgate armed with anti-Kaepernick custom items, including T-shirts, koozies, and even a piñatadepicting the controversial QB. A dummy with Kaepernick’s No. 7 jersey and an afro also became a literal target, as a crowd of Bills fans gathered to start a “F--k Kaepernick”chant.

Kaepernick, who replaced Blaine Gabbert under center to make his season debut in the starting role, also drew supporters to the tailgate. A group of Bills fans walking through the lot chanted calls for justice and held up Black Lives Matter signs. A plane also reportedly flew a sign over the stadium that called the QB “courageous."

Loud chants of "USA! USA! USA!" preceeded Kaepernick's kneeling protest of "The Star-Spangled Banner." During the game, a fan was escorted out of the stadium by security after throwing a beer bottle at the quarterback, who was on the sideline, according to a report. He was booed throughout the first half, during which he completed eight out of 11 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown.

Kaepernick ignited a firestorm of both support and criticism toward the end of the NFL preseason by sitting during the national anthem to protest social injustice. He has taken a knee for the anthem throughout the regular season.

Kaepernick also restructured his contract with the 49ers this week, which gives him free agent eligibility after this season.
