Commuter Train Derails And Falls Into Creek

( 4UMF NEWS ) Commuter Train Derails And Falls Into Creek:

A California commuter train derailed near the San Francisco Bay Area Monday night, and one of its cars fell into a creek leaving nine people injured, authorities said.

Although one of the train cars was partially submerged, rescue crews were able to remove and assess all of the passengers, the Alameda County Fire Department said in a tweet.

A large tree caused the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train No. 10 to derail in a rural area east of Fremont with 214 passengers on board, NBC News reported.

The fire department initially said that 14 people were hurt. Four people were seriously injured and five had minor injuries it said. The uninjured passengers were transferred to the Alameda County Fairgrounds by bus.

No ACE rains would be operating Tuesday, the railway announced.
