Cowboys Trade For New QB

Cowboys Trade For New QB

( 4UMF NEWS ) Cowboys Trade For New QB:

The Dallas Cowboys went out to get the quarterback help they needed, even if only for depth.

The Cowboys acquired Matt Cassel from the Buffalo Bills in a trade Tuesday. The Bills confirmed the move in a release.

Brandon Weeden took over for Tony Romo when the Cowboys’ starter broke his left collarbone in the Cowboys’ Week 2 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Weeden is expected to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Monday running backs Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle would have been the team’s emergency quarterbacks had Weeden been injured in the game.

On Tuesday, the Cowboys placed Romo on injured reserve with a designation to return. The first game he would be eligible to play in would be a Nov. 22 contest at the Miami Dolphins.

The Bills traded for Cassel in the offseason, but Tyrod Taylor beat the veteran signal-caller in training camp for the starting job.
