( 4UMF NEWS ) Iman Shumpert Arrested For DUI Back In August:
Former Knick and current Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert was arrested last month for suspicion of DUI, the Cavs announced in a release Friday morning.
TMZ reported Shumpert was arrested for suspected marijuana use.
“Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert was arrested by Fayette County (GA) Police outside Atlanta for suspicion of DUI following an August 10 traffic stop for a lane violation,” the release said. “The Cavaliers have discussed the situation with Iman and will monitor the progression of the pending case.
“A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.”
According to TMZ, Shumpert admitted to smoking marijuana and police found a jar containing marijuana in his car. He reportedly refused to subject to a blood test out of fear of being recognized.
The day of his arrest, the Georgia Tech men’s basketball Twitter account shared photos of Shumpert visiting his alma mater in Atlanta.
Shumpert was a first-round pick by the Knicks in 2011 and was traded to Cleveland in 2015. He was part of the 2016 Cavaliers championship team.
He and his fiancée Teyana Taylor appear in Kanye West’s new music video for the song “Fade.”
