( 4UMF NEWS ) Jaden Smith To Star In New HBO Series:

Perhaps further exemplifying the mantra “like father, like son”, Jaden Smith is now looking to make a name for himself in the world of television.

The 16 year-old rapper and actor has recently been added to the cast of a upcoming comedy series on HBO entitled Brothers In Atlanta.

Saturday Night Live showrunner Lorne Michaels will serve as a producer of the show that will also feature SNL alum Maya Rudolph. Former Late Night with Jimmy Fallon writers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin will spearhead the show. Smith will play the role of Curtis, a character described as a “teenager with unpredictable interests and a mysterious income.”

The Hollywood Reporter gives further detail on the series:

“Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddinwill write, executive produce and star in the show, which centers on struggling entertainers and best friends Langston and Moose trying to navigate life in the black Mecca of Atlanta. Riddle will play Langston, an Atlanta native whose DJ career has stalled due to his lack of focus and his get-rich-quick schemes. Salahuddin portrays Moose, a new Atlanta resident and perennial backup singer who dreams of the spotlight, but has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth.”

Though many people assume his acting debut was his co-starring role in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness, Smith first appeared on the UPN sitcom, “All of Us,” that was produced in part by his father’s company, Overbrook Entertainment.

No premiere date for the debut episode of “Brothers In Atlanta” has been given thus far.
