( 4UMF NEWS ) Jay Z Sued Over ‘Big Pimpin’ Sample:
15 years ago, Jay Z dropped one of the most controversial singles of his career, “Big Pimpin,” off his multi-platinum selling album, Vol. 3…Life & Times Of S. Carter. Many critics and analysts didn’t approve of the misogynistic content on the record, but one person didn’t approve of how the song itself sounded.
For years, Jay’s camp and Egyptian artist Osama Ahmed Fahmy have gone back and forth over accusations that Hov and the song’s producer, Timbaland, wrongfully sampled his song “Kohsara, Kohsara,” which you can listen to below (and judge for yourself).
Fahmy contends that though Timbaland licensed the song from an Arabian label that claimed to have a partnership that have the rights to his music, it was done under false pretenses, and the alleged license would’ve expired in 2007 anyway.
Unless the two sides are able to come to an agreement in the near future, the case will be headed to court in October.
