John Stewart Announces His Last Day On Show

( 4UMF NEWS ) Jon Stewart Announces His Last Day On Show:

On Monday’s broadcast, longtime The Daily Show host and casual genius Jon Stewart announced his much-speculated date of departure. Stewart’s final day as host of the beloved Comedy Central program will be August 6, at which point the briefly controversial Trevor Noah will inherit the throne of satire.

As Stewart recently told The Guardian, his departure is less climactic and reason-specific than many likely assume. Instead, he says, these things are simply part of a cyclical process of forward motion. “You have moments of dissatisfaction,” Stewart told The Guardian, “and then you come out of it and it’s okay. But the cycles become longer and maybe more entrenched, and that’s when you realize ‘Ok, I’m on the back side of it now.'”

Jon Stewart has served as host of The Daily Show for 16 years, during which he built a distinguished brand of sharp satire and unparalleled political commentary that reshaped the American political landscape entirely. Though Stewart was quick to rebuke this proposed trajectory in the aforementioned interview, many still speculate that he will continue pushing forward in cinema following last year’s largely well-received Rosewater — Jon Stewart’s directorial debut.
