( 4UMF NEWS ) Kidnapped Woman Leaps From Car:
A 22-year-old woman managed to escape from her kidnappers by jumping out of the trunk of a car as it was driving on the freeway, Dearborn Police said.
She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her two captors were arrested days later.
“We are thankful that we were able to apprehend the perpetrators of the kidnapping quickly and that the victim escaped without serious injuries,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said.
The situation began in the early hours of Sunday, when the woman was forced from her home and into the trunk of a car at gunpoint by a former female friend and the woman’s boyfriend, police said in a news release.
They then drove away from the victim’s Dearborn home and east on Interstate 94. But while on the freeway near Livernois, the woman used the car’s trunk release — and then jumped.
Police did not elaborate on how fast the car was going, or how badly the woman was injured but said that a passing motorist pulled over and assisted her. She was then taken to Henry Ford Hospital.
The two suspects in the kidnapping were arrested on Wednesday. Charges are pending.
