Lena Dunham Regret Forcing Boyfriend To Purpose

( 4UMF NEWS ) Lena Dunham Regret Forcing Boyfriend To Purpose:

Lena Dunham may have hurriedly told boyfriend Jack Antonoff to “get on it” and propose in a tweet following June 26’s historic Supreme Court same-sex marriage legalization, but the Girls actress isn’t itching to race down the aisle — really. Dunham, 29 — who made the decision with her love of three years not to consider tying the knot until gay marriage was legalized — wrote in a New Yorker essay that she regretted being so forward with the fun. guitarist.

“As soon as Jack woke up [on June 26], I informed him that he ‘better not make a fool out of me,’ followed by a quick ‘LOL,’ and then, ‘But seriously. I’m going to look like a real idiot if we just sit here like losers and keep dating.’ Then I tweeted, ‘@jackantonoff get on it, yo,’ followed by my immediate and all-consuming regret,” the Girls showrunner said. “Jack didn’t text back, which is entirely unlike him, and it wasn’t until I got home and looked him in the eye that I realized just how little the concept of marriage had been on his mind.”

That’s not to say Antonoff remained silent on his satisfaction for the ruling. He tweeted his support, without responding to Dunham’s query, and at home with his girlfriend, the marriage talk stopped.

“His belief in, and insistence on, true equality for LGBTQ citizens was no small reason why I fell in love with him,” Dunham wrote in The New Yorker. But as she realized shortly after the SCOTUS ruling when she was at a wedding with her beau, deep down, Antonoff, 31, is just a dude who doesn’t want to be badgered with talk of white dresses and table settings.

“I held Jack’s hand and said, ‘Let’s not talk about marriage for a while, okay?’ He looked grateful and relieved. I felt unburdened but sad. The subject wasn’t particularly loaded for him. It never would be,” the Golden Globe winner recalled.

Since the SCOTUS ruling, Dunham has accepted that she’ll have to wait for the wedding she once dreamed of as a 10th grader.

“A wedding was, I imagined, an incredible day, better than your birthday, Halloween, and Hanukkah combined, with all eyes on you — a chance to be the star of your own show,” the actress said. “I am not foolish enough to think I have made a final decision about marriage. . . I like admitting that my feminism and my femininity are not fully formed or in perfect harmony. I like being a guest, for now.”
