( 4UMF NEWS ) Man Shoots Himself During Gun Safety Class:

An amateur gunslinger shot himself in the leg during a firearms safety class in Orlando, Fla., authorities said.

The 23-year-old was trying to holster his gun on Saturday in the back of a pawn shop’s shooting range when he accidentally fired, grazing himself with a 9-mm. bullet, authorities said.

The man’s relative took him to the hospital for minor injuries, WKMG news station reported.

The unidentified shooter had been taking a class for people training for jobs as security officers, authorities said.

The owner of Instant Replay Pawn Shop and Shooting Range claimed this was the first incident in two years of classes at the business.

“You want to make sure people are handling themselves safely with firearms in the public, so that’s why we put them through these training situations,” Ryan Stumf told WKMG. “If they can’t do it here, then they definitely can’t do it in public.”

The shooting range planned to return to business as usual on Sunday, and Stumf said the wounded student would be welcome if he wanted to come back in the future.
