( 4UMF NEWS ) Meek Mill Given Eight More Days Of House Arrest:
Rapper Meek Mill won’t be home free from his house arrest for at least a few more days.
The Philadelphia-born artist was slapped with an additional eight days of home confinement after failing to complete the correct types of community service during his 90-day sentence, TMZ reports.
Mill — who was scheduled to be released Wednesday — was supposed to spend his time working with senior citizens, veterans, the homeless and Habitat for Humanity, according to court orders.
Instead, the hip-hop star reportedly opted to visit schools, give motivational speeches and donate money to the Flint water crisis while devoting only some of his time to local homeless shelters. The rapper, the boyfriend of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, also apparently hurt his case by only working six days a week.
Mill’s team, however, claims the rapper is getting a bad rap, arguing the judge never specified what types of community service he had to complete. But TMZ reports the parameters of his house arrest were clearly stated.
The Philadelphia district attorney’s office will reassess Mill’s situation after he completes his court-mandated volunteer hours.
Mill was served the three-month house arrest sentence in February after a judge ruled he had violated his probation stemming from a 2008 drug-dealing and gun conviction. The violation occurred after the rapper neglected his court-approved travel schedule, with the court ruling he did so to see visit Minaj. He also reportedly handed over cold water instead of a urine sample during a drug test.
All things considered, Mill caught something of a break with the court’s ruling. He was originally sentenced to six-to-12 months in prison before being immediately paroled to house arrest.
The rapper, who has a well-documented feud with fellow hip hop star Drake, has not been allowed to record, release or perform any music over the course of his house arrest.
