( 4UMF NEWS ) Police Shut Down Concert After Kanye Jumps Into Lake:
Because he can?! Who knows why Kanye West decided to jump into Armenia’s Swan Lake while performing a free concert on the banks of the lake on Sunday, April 12 — but when fans decided to jump in too and crowded the singer, the whole concert was shut down!
West has been visiting the Eurasian country with his wife Kim Kardashian, daughter North West and sister-in-law Khloe Kardashian so the sisters and some of their extended family can explore their heritage.
Always eager to make a headline, West arranged to perform an impromptu free concert on the edge of the capital’s famous Swan Lake at midnight on Sunday (the group’s last night in the country), which was live-streamed on YouTube that evening.
In true Yeezus style, the controversial rapper decided to make waves — literally — by plunging into the water in the shallows of the lake during his performance of “Good Life.”
“It’s a problem,” the rapper called out to fans on the far side of the lake mid-way through his concert. “Can y’all see me over there? We’re going to do something different, like, like, like we always do,” he screamed, before running and jumping into the lake.
But while the 37-year-old dad of one was eager to make a splash, he probably wasn’t expecting what happened next.
Hoards of fans decided to follow West into the water, as did a load of photographers and security which quickly developed into a scrum. Police rescued the “Stronger” singer from the chaos and closed down the concert completely.
Tweeting after the gig, Kim Kardashian revealed she was as much in the dark about her husband’s plans as everyone else.
“Crazy night! Kanye wakes me up & says he’s doing a free concert in Yerevan, Armenia! I throw on sweats & we go!” she wrote. “Thousands of people were there! Kanye jumped in swan lake to be closer to the crowd on the other side & so many people jumped in too! Such an exciting crazy night! So happy I got to rock out with everyone in Armenia on our last night here!!!! #EpicNight #ArmenianPride,” she added.
