WE TV is looking to make its own Empire. After the major success of the hit Fox TV show, WE has announced plans to launch a new docu-series titled Growing Up Hip Hop.

Consisting of six episodes, the show will revolve around the real stories behind some of hip-hop’s most well-known figures and their famous offspring. Each episode will focus on how their children are challenged with maintaining their own identity while evolving the hip-hop sound and culture they came from.

The show will star Hip Hop pioneers Damon Dash, Rev. Run, Russell Simmons, Master P, El DeBarge and Pepa, as well as their children:

Damon “Boogie” Dash, Angela Simmons, Romeo Miller, Kristina DeBarge and Egypt Criss. TJ Mizell, the son of the late Run DMC DJ, Jam Master Jay, will also be featured.

Growing Up Hip-Hop is executive produced by eOne‘s John Morayniss and Tara Long; Romeo Miller, Angela Simmons, Percy Robert Miller (Master P) and Datari Turner whose Datari Turner Productions co-produces. The show will premiere in late 2015. A specific date has not yet been determined.
