( 4UMF NEWS ) Shooting At Louisiana Movie Theater:

CBS News reports that a subject opened fire inside a movie theater tonight in Lafeyette, Louisiana. Authorities report that two people were killed and eight injured in the shooting.

According to NBC News, one of the two dead victims is believed to be the gunman. Louisiana State Police have told CNN that the shooter died of a "self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The eight others with injuries were taken to three hospitals. Their conditions are not yet known.

The shooting occurred earlier tonight at a screening of Trainwreck at the Grand Theatre on Johnston Street in Lafayette.

Lafayette Police received a call about a shooting involving multiple victims around 7:30 p.m. They are currently on scene.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal tweeted that he is currently traveling to Lafayette. "Please say a prayer for the victims at Grand Theatre and their families."

UPDATE 7/23/15 10:54 p.m.: At a media conference, Police Chief Jim Craft said that they have identified the shooter, but are not released his name at this time. He confirmed that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Chief Craft also said the Lafayette police are currently processing the crime scene. When the department got the call, they sent police officers to movie theaters around the city as a safety precaution.

Governor Jindal told reporters, "Whenever we hear about these senseless acts of violence, it makes us both sad and furious."
