Suge Knight Sues Dr. Dre
( 4UMF NEWS ) Suge Knight Sues Dr. Dre:
Months after first making the wild allegation, Suge Knight is now suing Dr. Dre with claims the hitmaker hired hitmen to kill him.
The jailed Death Row Records founder claims Andre "Dr. Dre" Young wanted him dead to get out from under an alleged lifetime management agreement specifying Knight should get 30% of the millions Young made selling his Beats headphones business to Apple and producing "Straight Outta Compton" for Universal.
Knight claims Young first hired a gunman to shoot him inside the 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood in August 2014 and then funded a follow-up armed assault at Tam's burgers in Compton in January 2015.
"Dr. Dre did it. Andre Young is responsible for both crimes," Knight's new lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court states.
"Serious attempts on Knight's life began only after Young was paid through Apple on May 28, 2014," the lawsuit claims.
"Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge's lawyer has lots of malicious prosecution insurance," an attorney for Dr. Dre states.
The new civil filing from Knight's lawyer Thaddeus Culpepper is a cross-complaint in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the widow of Terry Carter.
Knight is now behind bars on charges he murdered Carter and attempted to kill Cle "Bone" Sloan when he hit the gas on his truck and ran over both men during the confrontation outside Tam's.
Knight has pleaded not guilty, claiming the men were armed and threatened his life.
His new lawsuit names Young, Universal and Apple as respondents, alleging they reached a "mutually agreeable scheme" that would result in Young somehow severing ties with Knight.
Knight claims Young recruited Sloan and another man named Dwayne "Knob" Johnson to go after him.
His lawsuit alleges Young employed the men as technical advisors on "Straight Outta Compton" but paid them out of his own accounts for the alleged hit.
"Young did not wish to share another penny with Knight," the new lawsuit states. "Young wished (for) an overall solution to this apparent, constant Suge Knight dilemma."
The new court paperwork alleges checks from at least one of Young's accounts paid Sloan $300,000 and "Knob" $20,000 weeks before the incident at Tam's.
"Knight is informed and believes that Apple, Universal and Young agreed that payments for the armed assault were to be made by Young so as not to implicate Universal or Apple," the cross complaint states.
"Knight is also informed and believes payments from one or any or all of the accounts were used to pay the armed gunmen that shot Knight seven times at 1Oak nightclub on August 14, 2014," it states.
It claims a man identified as "T-Money" told a Sheriff's investigator "that he was paid by Young to kill Knight (at 1Oak)."
Knight claims Universal "was at least aware that part of Sloan's tactics in addressing the Knight dilemma would involve armed assault."
Knight, 50, previously accused Young of involvement in the 1Oak shooting in a court filing last April that blamed Knight's stringent jail restrictions on a "massive scandal and cover-up."
