( 4UMF NEWS ) Texas Teen Arrested For Choking Ex-Girlfriend To Death:
A Texas teen is behind bars for allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend to death after talks to rekindle their relationship took a turn for the worse.
Jacob Lee Boyd, 17, was arrested Monday and charged with the murder of 16-year-old Racheal Jean Wiest, Irving police said.
The Nimitz High School students had dated for a year before breaking up two weeks ago, Fox 4 Dallas reported.
They met at a friend’s house to discuss getting back together but got into an argument instead, police said. When Wiest tried walking out, Boyd choked her until she stopped moving.
Wiest was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
Her family is in “shock and disbelief at losing such a beautiful, young life,” according to a statement they released to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.
Grieving loved ones have started an online fund-raising campaign to pay for her funeral.
The high school sophomore was an Honor Roll student who loved to dance and listen to country music, they said.
“She had a bright future ahead of her that was tragically cut short at such a young age,” the page says. “There was no way that we could have been prepared for how abruptly her life would end.
Boyd is being held on a $1 million bond.
