Ex-NBA Player Charles Shackleford Found Dead ( 4UMF NEWS ) Ex-NBA Player Charles Shackleford Found Dead: Former NBA player Charles Shackleford, who famously referred to himself as "amphibious" instead of ambidextrous while at North Carolina State, was found dead in his Kinston, N.C. home on Friday, police said. He was 50 years old. Kinston police are investigating, as a cause of death has not been determined. Shackleford, who stood at 6-foot-10, played for the Wolfpack from 1985-1988 and was known for his rebounding. After a game, he told a reporter: "I can shoot with my left hand. I can shoot with my right hand. I'm amphibious." "Shack" was seleted by the Nets in the second round of the 1988 draft and spent six seasons in the NBA — also playing for the 76ers, Timberwolves and Hornets — as well as European leagues. After retiring in 2000, Shackleford found himself in trouble with the law numerous times. In 2006, he was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and drug possession. In 2010, Shackleford rear-ended a car, then told cops he was Jayson Williams; about six months later he was arrested for selling prescription drugs. Source
